The Democrat Culture Of Corruption

"Howard Dean and Nancy Pelosi can stop clucking now. For the last three years, Democratic leaders cheered GOP ethics woes. Dean accused Republicans of making “their culture of corruption the norm.” Pelosi touted cleanliness as a liberal virtue. But with the eye-popping pay-for-play and bribery case against Democratic Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich topping a year of nationwide Democratic scandals, the corruption chickens are coming home to roost..

Democrats and the media can no longer rest on the old rationalization that Blago is an exception to the “we’re cleaner than thou” rule. 2008 was the year of Democratic Reps. William “Cold Cash” Jefferson, Charlie “Sweetheart Deals” Rangel, and former Detroit Mayor Kwame “Text Me” Kilpatrick. It was the year Democratic Massachusetts State Senator Dianne Wilkerson got caught stuffing bribes from an FBI informant down her shirt. It was the year 12 Democratic leaders and staffers in Pennsylvania’s state Capitol were stung in a massive corruption scandal involving cash, sex and abuse of public office. And it was the year of multimillion-dollar embezzlement scandals at Democratic satellite offices of ACORN and the SEIU.

The Democrats have met the culture of corruption, and it looks like it ain’t just elephants among the jackasses soiling public office."

Obama's Acorn BIG Player in Mortgage Mess

Stanley Kurtz is single handedly doing the job that the MSM wont. While they are up in Alaska rummaging through the trivialities of Sarah Palin's life, he's in Chicago uncovering real news. In his latest column, Kurtz shows that ACORN's thug tactics played a major role in the biggest financial crisis in generations:

"Up to now, conventional wisdom on the financial meltdown has relegated ACORN and the CRA to bit parts. The real problem, we’ve been told, lay with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. In fact, however, ACORN is at the base of the whole mess. ACORN used CRA and Democratic sympathizers to entangle Fannie and Freddie and the entire financial system in a disastrous disregard of the most basic financial standards. And Barack Obama cut his teeth as an organizer and politician backing up ACORN’s economic madness every step of the way."

Obama Disavows ACORN. Which Lie is True?

I'm taking bets on when Obama will tell us it's not the ACORN he knew. From Obama's Fight The Smears Site:

• Fact: Barack was never an ACORN community organizer.
• Fact: Barack was never an ACORN trainer and never worked for ACORN in any other capacity.
• Fact: ACORN was not part of Project Vote, the successful voter registration drive Barack ran in 1992.

But then we have this Feb 21st, 2008 post from Obama's own blog site:

When Obama met with ACORN leaders in November, he reminded them of his history with ACORN and his beginnings in Illinois as a Project Vote organizer, a nonprofit focused on voter rights and education. Senator Obama said, "I come out of a grassroots organizing background. That's what I did for three and half years before I went to law school. That's the reason I moved to Chicago was to organize. So this is something that I know personally, the work you do, the importance of it. I've been fighting alongside ACORN on issues you care about my entire career. Even before I was an elected official, when I ran Project Vote voter registration drive in Illinois, ACORN was smack dab in the middle of it, and we appreciate your work.”

UPDATE: Sweetness & Light has a well documented post showing ACORN and Project Vote as being one and the same.

They Wanted More School.

David Freddoso uses Obama' education positions to highlight the duplicitous and venal nature of the candidate in all things:

"Obama writes:

[T]heir number one issue was this: Because the school district couldn’t
afford to keep teachers for a full school day, Thornton let out every day at
1:30 in the afternoon. With the abbreviatebd schedule, there was no time for
students to take science lab or foreign language classes. How come we’re getting
shortchanged? they asked me. Seems like nobody even expects us to go to college,
they said.They wanted more school."

The elementary-school day and year in Chicago proper are the shortest of
any major U.S. city. It lasts five hours and 45 minutes, and the schools are
open just 174 days per year. This is entirely a result of the intransigence of
the Chicago Teachers Union (CTU), a staunch ally of Barack Obama and an early
endorser of his presidential candidacy.

The United States already spends the highest percentage of its world's largest GDP on education, while achieving mediocre results at best. The unholy alliance between democrats and teacher's unions exists only to mutually benefit themselves with power and money, while producing socialist indoctrinated drones just ignorant enough not to cause the elites trouble.

Barack Obama's Lost Years

From Stanley Kurtz at The Weekly Standard:

Barack Obama's neighborhood newspaper, the Hyde Park Herald, has a longstanding tradition of opening its pages to elected officials-from Chicago aldermen to state legislators to U.S. senators. Obama himself, as a state senator, wrote more than 40 columns for the Herald, under the title "Springfield Report," between 1996 and 2004.

What they portray is a Barack Obama sharply at variance with the image of the post-racial, post-ideological, bipartisan, culture-war-shunning politician familiar from current media coverage and purveyed by the Obama campaign. As details of Obama's early political career emerge into the light, his associations with such radical figures as Reverend Jeremiah Wright, Father Michael Pfleger, Reverend James Meeks, Bill Ayers, and Bernardine Dohrn look less like peculiar instances of personal misjudgment and more like intentional political partnerships. At his core, in other words, the politician chronicled here is profoundly race-conscious, exceedingly liberal, free-spending even in the face of looming state budget deficits, and partisan. Elected president, this man would presumably shift the country sharply to the left on all the key issues of the day-culture-war issues included. It's no wonder Obama has passed over his Springfield years in relative silence.
